Reminder: 2012 Congressional Art Competition Deadline Nears for High School Students
Washington, DC,
April 4, 2012
REMINDER: Congressman John Carter (R-TX31) today reminded area high schools that the April 20 deadline for the 2012 Congressional Art Competition, “An Artistic Discovery”, is rapidly approaching. “This is a great opportunity for young artists in our district to show their artwork in competition, with a chance to win a trip to our nation’s capitol and have their work on exhibit for a year in the U.S. Capitol,” says Carter. “I have enjoyed hosting this event for our district each year since 2003, and I encourage every high school artist with an interest to meet with their art teacher immediately, or contact my office.” Each year the U.S. House of Representatives hosts this nationwide event that allows winning high school students from every Congressional District in the U.S. to showcase their artistic ability. Entries will be judged by a panel of distinguished artists. The winning artwork from each of the 435 Congressional Districts will be displayed for one year, in the Cannon Office Building tunnel that leads into the U.S. Capitol. In addition, the winner from Texas District 31 will be awarded two roundtrip airline tickets and accommodations for two nights in Washington, D.C. The deadline for submitting entries and application materials is April 20, 2012. Entries and applications should be submitted to: Congressman John R. Carter ### U.S. Rep. John Carter |
