Williamson County Wins $284K Federal Homeless Grant (ROUND ROCK, TX) – U.S. Representative John Carter (R-TX31) today announced that Williamson County will benefit from a competitive federal grant to provide shelter for the homeless. The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has awarded a Continuum of Care Homeless Assistance Grant for $284,382 to Williamson-Burnet County Opportunities, Inc./Wilco Opportunities for Housing Independence. The funds will provide for a range of assistance to homeless persons, including transitional and permanent housing, and a variety of supportive services. Specific programs funded under the grant include the Supportive Housing Program, Shelter Plus Care Program, and the Section 8 Moderate Rehabilitation for Dwellings for Homeless Individuals. “I commend these organizations for their performance in winning this annually competitive grant, which will benefit all the citizens of Williamson County by providing help to homeless citizens in our community,” says Carter. ### U.S. Rep.
