Central Texas Counties Declared Agricultural Disaster Areas

For Immediate Release: January 4, 2012 Central Texas Counties Declared Agricultural Disaster Areas Counties in Central Texas have been designated agricultural disaster areas today by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, according to Congressman John Carter (R-TX31). “Based on the extreme agricultural disaster conditions here in Central Texas over the last year, today’s designation is a welcome relief for our area farms and ranches, and our overall economy,” says Carter. “From a slow start earlier this year in declaring disaster areas, I am pleased that the majority of our counties now qualify for some assistance.” In the 31stCongressional District, Williamson, Falls, Bell, Milam, and Robertson counties have been declared eligible for federal aid in response to 2011 drought conditions, excessive heat, high winds and wildfires. Producers are eligible to be considered for Farm Service Agency emergency loans and the Supplemental Revenue Assistance Program. The Farm Service Agency will consider each emergency loan application on its own merit by taking into account the extent of losses, security available, and repayment ability.
