Washington, Jul 29, 2005 - U.S. Representative John R. Carter (TX-31) was pleased to announce $400,000 has been secured for the Texas Institute for Applied Environmental Research (TIAER). The funding was included in on H.R. 2361, Department of the Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act for FY 2006,Conference Report.

“I am happy this funding will enable TIAER to continue its resourceful research into the quality and utilization of the Bosque River,” said Carter. “Water is major issue to Texans and the insight and expertise they provide is invaluable.”

The funding would provide for TIAER to continue monitoring of water quality in the Bosque River and would also utilize their experience and unique data set to implement a planned intervention watershed approach in the Upper North Bosque River to assist producers in the region in addressing total maximum daily loads in the North Bosque River. TIAER has an established infrastructure to conduct watershed monitoring in the Bosque River.

"I greatly appreciate the leadership of Congressman Carter in securing these funds to address the critical issues facing the Bosque River Watershed," said Ron Jones, Director of TIAER. "This funding will enable TIAER to further its efforts to help solve the environmental challenges in our area."
