(ROUND ROCK, TX) – House Republican Conference Secretary John Carter today expressed his condolences on the passing of Congressman John Murtha of Pennsylvania.

"Congressman Murtha’s passing comes as a shock and surprise to me and many of his colleagues," said Carter. "Rep. Murtha will be missed by all Members of Congress and staff and especially those on the Appropriations Committee with whom he worked so tirelessly over the years. All Americans should be thankful for the decades of service Jack Murtha donated to this country through the U.S. Marine Corps and here in Congress. Our prayers will be with his family at this time of loss."
