Carter Supports Expanded Postal Benefits for Deployed Troops

Sending care packages is just one small way we can thank the men and women serving our country. To show that support Congressman John Carter (R-TX) is supporting the Home Front to Heroes Postal Benefits Act incorporation in the National Defense Authorization Act.

The postal benefits act will make it easier for families to send packages to and correspond with their loved ones.

"Sending mail and packages is often the only way families can communicate with their loved ones who are serving our country," Carter said. "Making it easier, and more affordable, to correspond with our military is just one way we can help a difficult situation of being apart from those you love."

Under the terms of this act, each member of the military in combat operations will receive a free monthly postal benefit so loved ones can send a letter or package at no cost.

This act builds upon previous postal benefit legislation, and includes soldiers deployed in support of Operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom throughout the Middle East.
