Carter Congratulates Fort Hood on New Status as World's Largest AUSA Chapter
Washington, DC,
July 16, 2009
Fort Hood is now home to the world’s largest chapter of the Association of the United States Army (AUSA), and local Congressman John Carter (R-TX) says it is no surprise, based on the phenomenal growth and community support of Fort Hood in recent years. "Success builds on success, and there’s no better example of this than the outstanding relationship between Fort Hood and Central Texas," says Carter. "The guarantee of community support that Central Texas has provided this base helped build the Army’s confidence in the long-term viability of Fort Hood, and that in turn helped us win the infrastructure improvements and growth in units and missions that we have achieved this decade. Today’s landmark achievement points not just to the growth of Fort Hood from these victories, but to the willingness of thousands of service members to call this post home." Fort Hood succeeds Fort Bragg, North Carolina, which held the largest AUSA membership title for the past 35 years. |
