Washington, D.C., Jul 25, 2007 - U.S. Congressman John R. Carter (TX-31), a member of the House Appropriations Committee, secured $200 thousand for the North East Inner Loop in Georgetown in the Transportation, Housing and Urban Development (THUD) Appropriations bill which passed the House late last night. “Central Texas is booming and our roads must be able to keep up with the growing population and economy,” Congressman Carter said. “These funds are critical to rebuild the pavement and realign the lanes on the NE Loop in Georgetown. This project will provide added capacity and safety to accommodate the recent developments of the highway.” Passage of the bill in the House of Representatives is a critical step to ensure these important funds are provided to the project in Georgetown. If passed in the Senate the bill will proceed to a Conference Committee where both Houses of Congress will create a compromise bill to be presented to the President for signing. ###
