Funds to be included in House Labor Appropriations Bill

Washington, D.C., Jul 18, 2007 -

U.S. Representative John Carter (TX-31), a member of the Appropriations Committee, announced that the House has included funding for projects he requested for Harris Methodist Erath County Hospital’s (HMEC) Radiology Department during the Labor, Health & Human Services, Education and Related Agencies (LHHS) appropriations full committee meeting last week. The bill includes $140,000 thousand for the department.

“This is the first step in securing additional support for the hospital’s celebrated radiology department,” Congressman Carter said. “Funding for this project will be used to further enhance the patient care opportunities that recent renovation of Harris Methodist Erath County’s Radiology Department has already set in motion. These renovations will ultimately increase the capacity and level of care provided to the residents of Central Texas.”

Passage of the bill in full committee is the first step to ensure that these important funds are provided to the program at HMEC. This week the House is expected to take up the LHHS Appropriations Act, where, if passed, the bill will continue to the Senate for further consideration. If passed in the Senate the bill will proceed to the Conference Committee where both Houses of Congress will create a compromise bill to be presented to the President to be signed.
