Funds to be included in House Labor Appropriations Bill

Washington, D.C., Jul 17, 2007 -

U.S. Representative John Carter (TX-31), a member of the Appropriations Committee, announced that the House has included funding for projects he requested for Williamson County during the Labor Health & Human Services Education and Related Agencies (LHHS) appropriations full committee meeting last week. The bill includes $300,000 thousand for the Round Rock Higher Education Center (RRHEC).

“This is the first step in securing funding to support the establishment of a nursing program, an entirely new major for RRHEC ,” Congressman Carter said. “In order to offer this state-of-the-art nursing program, a facility must be built and properly equipped. This funding will go to provide equipment, technical support and salaries for faculty members that will ultimately equip the next generation of nurses with the tools and education they need to succeed in their careers.”

Passage of the bill in full committee is the first step to ensure that these important funds are provided to the Round Rock Higher Education Center. This week the House is expected to take up the LHHS Appropriations Act, where, if passed, the bill will continue to the Senate for further consideration. If passed in the Senate the bill will proceed to the Conference Committee where both Houses of Congress will create a compromise bill to be presented to the President to be signed.
