Washington, DC, Jun 27, 2007 -  U.S. Representative John Carter’s (R - Round Rock) issued the following statement today in response to extreme flooding in areas of Central Texas:

“My heart goes out to those who have been affected by the flooding in Central Texas. I want to assure my constituents that I am working closely with local, state and federal officials to make sure our counties receive the necessary federal support as soon as possible.

“My office and I have been in contact with FEMA and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security to stress that our region is in distress. I remain in contact with Governor Perry’s office and have encouraged them to include all of the affected counties in District 31 to the Disaster Declaration, and my staff has been in constant contact with local officials to assess their needs.

“In addition, I am organizing a letter from the Texas Congressional delegation requesting President Bush provide adequate and timely assistance to our citizens in need.”
