Washington, DC, Mar 7, 2007 - Congressman John Carter (R, Round Rock), House Republican Conference Secretary, today released the following statement in response to the House Majority plan to shut down the detention camp at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, and relocate terrorists to military prisons in Quantico, VA., and Charleston, SC: “While thousands of Americans are risking their lives to eradicate the terrorist threat to America, I am troubled to learn the Majority leadership wants to bring the very enemy we are fighting onto our soil. Their proposal will put suspected terrorists quite literally in the backyard of honest Americans, with no regard to their right to feel safe in their own communities.” |
