Washington, DC, Jun 15, 2006 - U.S. Representative John Carter (TX-31), a member of the Appropriations Committee, announced that the House has passed the Fiscal Year 2007 Transportation Appropriations bill, which includes his request for $400,000 for the construction of the Northeast Bypass in Copperas Cove. This funding will be used to widen and extend Tank Destroyer Boulevard to connect to FM 116 north of Copperas Cove in Coryell County. “Transportation infrastructure is critical to the region’s economic development. The Northeast Bypass project will take important steps to relieve traffic congestion in Copperas Cove. I am pleased to have secured funding for this valuable project that will benefit the communities of Fort Hood and Copperas Cove,” Congressman Carter said. The House passed this bill last night by a vote of 406-22. ###
