Carter, Banks Demand Yelp End Unfair Attacks on Pregnancy Resource Centers

Representatives John Carter (R-TX) and Jim Banks (R-IN) led their colleagues in sending a letter to Yelp, calling on the online review platform to remove unfair consumer notices on Pregnancy Resource Centers’ (PRC) pages and to stop preventing PRC accounts from updating their services.

On August 23, 2022, to appease the left, Yelp announced that they would place notices on every Pregnancy Resources Center’s page often incorrectly stating that they didn’t have medical personnel on site. Even in cases where the PRC has produced medical licensing information, Yelp has refused to remove the notice. In addition, Pregnancy Resources Centers wishing to update their services to reflect accurate information have been locked out of that aspect of their account.

“Yelp’s refusal to provide accurate information about the services offered by Pregnancy Resource Centers even after the centers have offered to submit copies of medical licenses and a full accounting of medical services provided, proves they are more interested in promoting the left’s pro-abortion ideology than providing consumers with accurate information,” said Representative Carter. “Yelp’s deceptive actions are putting mothers and unborn children at risk.”

“Yelp’s website claims they ‘work hard to maintain our community’s trust.’ However, their deceptive actions to mislabel and slander pregnancy resources centers that provide life-saving care to vulnerable mothers proves Yelp is much more devoted to advancing the Left’s radical pro-abortion agenda than to maintaining community trust,” said Representative Banks.

Representatives Carter and Banks were joined by Representatives Vicky Hartzler (R-MO), Christopher H. Smith (R-NJ), Randy Weber (R-TX), Glenn Grothman (R-WI), Pat Fallon (R-TX), Andy Harris, M.D. (R-MD), Doug Lamborn (R-CO), Andrew Clyde (R-GA), Bob Good (R-VA), Alex Mooney (R-WV), Michael Cloud (R-TX), Brian Babin (R-TX), Virginia Foxx (R-NC), Robert B. Aderholt (R-AL), Louie Gohmert (R-TX), Jeff Duncan (R-SC) Mary E. Miller (R-IL), Debbie Lesko (R-AZ), Ronny Jackson (R-TX), Troy Nehls (R-TX), and Van Taylor (R-TX).
