Rep John Carter on Afghanistan

"It is a sad day for our nation. Today marks the deadliest day in Afghanistan in over a decade. My heart aches for the twelve military families that are getting the worst news of their lives and I'm praying for the swift healing of those that have been wounded. There is no greater sacrifice than the one that our warriors make when they lay down their life in defense of their fellow Americans."

Representative John Carter released the following statement on the devastating events in Afghanistan.

"It is a sad day for our nation. Today marks the deadliest day in Afghanistan in over a decade. My heart aches for the twelve military families that are getting the worst news of their lives and I'm praying for the swift healing of those that have been wounded. There is no greater sacrifice than the one that our warriors make when they lay down their life in defense of their fellow Americans.

"Ultimately, I'm infuriated that this situation has resulted in the loss of life of our own. It's a direct result of the weakness of President Biden. His lack of leadership has emboldened an old enemy and allowed terrorists to retake control, putting national security and American lives in grave danger. However, I still hope that President Biden will rise to the challenge that lies before him as commander in chief, because American lives are truly at stake. I hope that when he addresses the nation and the world, he will convey a position of power and make it clear that the United States does not answer to terrorists.

"We have a responsibility to the Americans currently behind enemy lines and we made a promise to those who assisted our mission for the last two decades. We shall not quit until our people are safe. America does not cower when we are met with challenges, instead we respond swiftly and with fortitude, and it's up to President Biden to convey that message to the world and retake control of this disastrous situation."
