Washington, Jan 23, 2006 - U.S. Representative John Carter (TX-31) recently had the honor of presenting Howard Fick, a World War II veteran, with six medals he earned over 60 years ago. Howard, a Sun City resident, received the Distinguished Flying Cross and 5 Air Medals. The Distinguished Flying Cross is given to distinguished aviators for heroism and extraordinary achievement in aerial flight. The Air Medal is awarded for acts of heroism and outstanding achievements in flight in support of operations during combat. “Howard faithfully served our country, and formal recognition of his outstanding service was long-overdue,” Congressman Carter said. “I am honored to have played even a small role in seeing this American hero receive the medals he rightly earned.” |
