Carter Announces $2.9 million to Upgrade Taylor Airport

(ROUND ROCK, TX) - Rep. John R. Carter (R-TX-31) is proud to announce that the Texas Department of Transportation, acting on behalf of the Federal Aviation Administration, has awarded the City of Taylor an airport improvement grant. This grant, at an amount of $2,918,200, will fund improvements to the Taylor Municipal Airport. In particular, the grant will provide much needed pavement and hangar improvements to the airport.

Carter (R-TX-31) is proud to announce that the Texas Department of Transportation, acting on behalf of the Federal Aviation Administration, has awarded the City of Taylor an airport improvement grant. This grant, at an amount of $2,918,200, will fund improvements to the Taylor Municipal Airport. In particular, the grant will provide much needed pavement and hangar improvements to the airport.

"I am honored to help provide this important funding to the Taylor Municipal Airport," said Rep. Carter. "This grant will be a great boost to the Taylor economy, and help to ensure that the Taylor Municipal Airport continues to serve our community at the highest standard of excellence."

Jesse Ancira, Jr., Mayor of Taylor, said, “We are grateful to our partners at the Texas Department of Transportation and the Federal Aviation Administration for the award of $2.9 million in grant funding that will provide for much needed improvements to the Taylor Municipal Airport and we look forward to the completion of these projects.”

Taylor Municipal Airport Manager David Cornelius added, “We are pleased to have been selected as recipients of this grant which will enable us to properly maintain and improve our runway and taxiway pavement areas. It will also provide substantial assistance in the construction of a new 12 unit T-hangar and will contribute to upgraded security through the installation of perimeter fencing.”

Rep. Carter represents Texas District 31, which includes Fort Hood, one of the largest military installations in the free world. He serves as Chairman of the Homeland Security Subcommittee on Appropriations, co-chairman of the House Army Caucus, is on the Subcommittee for Commerce, Justice and Science and the Defense Appropriations Subcommittee.
