Border Security is the First Protection of Our Homeland

The foremost priority for our government is the protection of the homeland. You can’t protect the Homeland if you can’t secure the Border. And, I will not compromise on border security.

From WWI to the battle against ISIS terrorists, we Texans have a long history of being the first to answer the call when our country and her friends need help.  I have honored this proud tradition as a lifelong Texan, and I will continue to stand strong against President Obama’s policies that weaken our borderand jeopardize our national security.

I am listening as many of my fellow Texans voice their concerns about border security.  I have heard your concerns and acted on them.

Earlier this year I approved and allocated funding for the Southern Border and Approaches Campaign plan designed to address the high risk areas of the southern border.  I ensured e-verify was fully funded and I will work to implement a robust e-verify system Nationwide to protect American jobs, for American workers.  I also ensured no funding could be used for executive amnesty announced by the Obama Administration until the courts have their say. And, I will continue to support record funding levels for our U.S. Border Patrol Agents, our front line protection on our nation’s borders.

But it doesn’t stop there, we Texas conservatives are fed up with sanctuary cities that hold out their hands for federal funding yet refuse to help immigration agents remove criminal illegal aliens in their jails.  This year in our Department of Homeland Security funding bill we ensured that no sanctuary city will benefit from certain federal funding.  We also ensured that no money is allocated for the release of dangerous criminal illegal aliens that are responsible for thousands of crimes within our borders.

These gains in security have been hard fought; this administration has had seven years to wreak havoc on our Country.  I am as tired of ceding our sovereignty for the likes of President Obama’s open borders campaign, and his continued global apology tour.

National Security begins at home.  We will not sit by while the enemy schemes to attack us.  Make no mistake: we will fight evil and tyranny wherever it lives and grows.  To do anything less is to ensure that our children and grandchildren will fight a more powerful and entrenched enemy on our own shores.  Texans deserve a secure border, and I will not stop fighting until our border is secured.
