Rep. Carter Names New Press Secretary

Congressman John Carter (R-TX-31) has named Corry Schiermeyer as his new press secretary. Schiermeyer is based in the Round Rock, Texas district office, and will handle all communications and media relations for the Congressman.

Congressman John Carter (R-TX-31) has named Corry Schiermeyer as his new press secretary. Schiermeyer is based in the Round Rock, Texas district office, and will handle all communications and media relations for the Congressman.

“I am excited to have Corry join our team,” said Rep. Carter. “She brings a wealth of experience to this role, and will be a great addition as we continue to strive for excellence in serving central Texans across the 31st District.”

Schiermeyer is a seasoned communications professional, having served as press secretary for Rep. Ed Whitfield (R-KY-01) and in a variety of communications roles in the Bush Administration from 2001-2009. Her experience with President Bush included serving as Deputy Director of Communications for the U.S. Department of Agriculture from 2007-2009, Director for Global Communications at the National Security Council from 2005-2007, Deputy Associate Director of the White House Office of Global Communications from 2004-2005, director of the U.S. Department of Energy press office from 2001-2004 and Acting Director of Public Affairs for the U.S. Department of Transportation's Federal Railroad Administration. Schiermeyer is a native Texan, who was born in central Texas and raised in Lubbock. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Broadcast Journalism from the Universityof North Texas. Most recently she was a marketing a communications consultant to Meals on Wheels Collin County in McKinney, Texas.
