Today, Rep. John R. Carter (R-TX-31) supported, and the House of Representatives passed, the Make America Secure Appropriations Act (H.R. 3219) which includes language introduced by Rep. Carter to begin building a wall along our southern border to enhance our existing border security infrastructure. The bill also provides funding for the Department of Defense, the Department of Veterans Affairs, as well as the nation's critical energy and water programs for the 2018 fiscal year.

WASHINGTON–U.S. Senators John Cornyn (R-TX) and Ted Cruz (R-TX) and U.S. Congressmen John Carter (TX-31), Michael McCaul (TX-10), and Filemon Vela (TX-34) today introduced bills to honor the fallen U.S. Border Patrol Agent Javier Vega, Jr. for his service by renaming the Border Patrol checkpoint where he was assigned, along U.S. Highway 77 North in Sarita, Texas, after him.

(WASHINGTON, DC) – Today, Rep. John R. Carter (R-TX-31) supported and the House passed the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2018 (FY18). The bill supports a total budget of $695.9 billion for defense programs and provides for many specific provisions vital to Fort Hood and all of Central Texas, including an increase in troops, accelerated ground combat vehicle modernizations, remanufactured and new Apache helicopters, and unmanned aerial vehicles. The FY18 NDAA also provides for a 2.4 percent pay increase for our military men and women, the largest increase since 2010.

(WASHINGTON, DC) – Rep. John R. Carter (R-TX-31) joined 140 of his colleagues in signing a letter to House Speaker Paul Ryan calling for legislation to end sequestration for national defense. Rep. Carter has long supported the end of this Obama-era policy, and believes without this repeal, our ability to defend our great nation will continue to diminish.
