Congressman John Carter

Representing the 31st District of Texas

Congressional Internships

My staff and I realize the value of the hands-on learning experience attained from a Congressional internship. Therefore we encourage college students to apply for an opportunity to work in either our Washington, D.C. or District offices. For those interested in a Washington, D.C. internship, please give yourself adequate time to make any necessary travel and housing arrangements.

Intern responsibilities include assisting the staff with general office duties, sorting through mail, flag requests, Boy Scout letters, giving capitol tours, and assisting legislative staff with writing and research. Applicants must possess strong written and oral communication skills, be able to work well in a team environment and must have a minimum 3.0 GPA. Candidates with strong Texas ties are preferred.
