Carter Rejects Obama's Iran Nuclear Agreement

(WASHINGTON, DC) – Today, Rep. John R. Carter (R-TX-31) voted to reject President Obama's nuclear plan with Iran.

Today, Rep. John R. Carter (R-TX-31) voted to reject President Obama’s nuclear plan with Iran.

“Today, I voted to reject the President’s insane deal with Iran. For the security of our nation and that of our allies, Iran must not be allowed to acquire a nuclear weapon. Sadly, the President’s agreement moves in the opposite direction, giving Iran more power to isolate itself from international inspectors and bankrolling the regime's efforts to produce a nuclear weapon.”

“President Obama once again has reached out to a terrorist-supporting rogue regime as part of his failed foreign policy and lack of national security strategy. While the President spends countless hours trying to take and keep weapons out of the hands of law-abiding Americans, he has no reservation in paving a path for a terrorist regime to develop nuclear weapons.”

“At a time of increased global threats to the United States and its allies, it is irresponsible to support any agreement that further destabilizes the Middle East, empowers a rogue nation whose leaders seek the elimination of Israel, and continually supports terrorism by Hezbollah and the Assad regime in Syria. Through this deal, what the President has ultimately done is weaken our nation and its allies around the globe.”

“The House has done its job by rejecting this disastrous agreement. Unfortunately, Senate Democrats have failed us, and our nation, by not rejecting the President’s dangerous plan.”

Rep. Carter represents Texas District 31, which includes Fort Hood, the largest military installation in the free world. He serves as Chairman of the Homeland Security Subcommittee on Appropriations, is on the Subcommittee for Commerce, Justice and Science and the Defense Appropriations Subcommittee.
